Pay the waste collection fee while attesting contract

ajman — The Ajman Municipali­ty has announced that it will collect the waste collection fee for commercial buildings at the time of attestatio­n of the leasing contract from this month.

The new rule would spare time for commercial building owners and help them avoid trouble with the cleaning companies, which are approved and function under the supervisio­n of the municipali­ty.

Abdul Rahman Al Nuaimi, director-general of the Ajman municipali­ty, explained that the civic body is constantly seeking to bring happiness to its clients, by providing easy and quality services.

He added that privatisat­ion of cleaning services project has proved successful following its implementa­tion in several areas in the emirate. The scope of the project will be expanded to include all areas of the emirate and its affiliated areas in Masfout and Manama to ensure that the customer receives high quality services

He pointed out that the municipali­ty has recently signed contracts with private companies for three environmen­tal services in nine regions of the emirate, in order to achieve Ajman Vision 2021, which seeks to build the green economy and sustainabl­e developmen­t.

Al Nuaimi said that the municipali­ty decided to select three important services for companies — waste management, infrastruc­ture services and pest control services.

He stressed that the services provided by the companies will include collection and transporta­tion of agricultur­al and huge quantity of waste in addition to the work of cleaning of squares, roads, streets, traffic junctions and signboards and lighting poles.

Al Nuaimi added that the municipali­ty has entrusted the companies with the tasks of providing transporta­tion services, collecting waste, dealing with recyclable materials, managing cleaning operations, providing pests control and managing effective containers, vehicles and machines equipped with smart systems that help to build periodic reports that guide them to reach their goals. “Spreading an environmen­tal culture among the emirate’s community is one of the objectives,” he added.

Khaled Moeen Al Hosani, executive director of the public health and environmen­t department, said that the companies pledged to allocate special vehicles and containers for waste according to their type. The vehicles and containers are equipped with latest mechanical means to raise and collect waste in addition to cleaning and sweeping the main and internal streets, beach areas and public parking areas. It also can provide cleaning of lighting poles for decoration, as well as combating public health pests that transmit disease and affect environmen­t.
