Alubond Tigers trounce Orakzai

dubai — Alubond Tigers defeated Orakzai XI by 65 runs in the first match of the opening season Junoon Cup in Ajman.

After Alubond Tigers were asked to bat first, they lost their first wicket in the second ball of the match when Faizan Asif was clean bowled by Junaid Siddique. But the Tigers recovered due to a decent 60-run partnershi­p in the next eight overs from Mohammad Boota and Abdul Shakoor.

Boota looked aggressive as he hammered a brilliant 40-ball 50 supported by four boundaries and two sixes, while Shakoor played the perfect second fiddle to score 21 from 28 deliveries consisting of three boundaries.

After losing Boota and Shakoor, Yasir Kaleem carried on the good work with an impressive 31 runs off 24 balls with the help of four fours and a six before Fayyaz Ahmed gave the finishing touches with his cameo of 31 from 12 balls (3x4, 2x6) as Alubond Tigers finished on 163 for 7 in 20 overs. For Orakzai XI, Luqman Khan claimed two wickets.

Chasing a stiff target, Orakzai started well as openers Ansar Khan and Waseem Rana added 22 runs in just 2 overs. Ansar Khan did the bulk of the scoring firing 46 from only 15 deliveries including three hits to the fence and five over it.

After losing the first two wickets in 2.4 overs none of the batsmen of Orakzai Xl were able to cope with the bowling of Fayyaz Ahmed from Alubond Tigers who picked up three wickets by conceding only 11 runs in three overs.

He was well supported by Nasir Aziz (3-15) and Asif Mumtaz (427) as Orakzai XI were all out for 98 in 15.2 overs.
