dubai — In case you weren’t able to watch the New Year Eve (NYE) laser light show at the Burj Khalifa on December 31, and also missed watching it during the extended one-week period, now is the chance to watch it. Head to The Dubai Mall, sit by the fountains, and enjoy the recordbreaking show until March 31.

On Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays, visitors can watch the show at 8pm; and on Thursdays and Fridays at 10pm. Timings for Sundays and Mondays were not announced.

The show — ‘Light Up 2018’ — marked the UAE’s record-breaking entry into the New Year, establishing a new Guinness World Record for the ‘largest light and sound show on a single building’, topping the previous record set in Hong Kong in 2013.

‘Light Up 2018’ was viewed by over a million visitors on New Year’s Eve. Spanning a surface area of 109,252 square metres (about 27 acres, the size of 20 football fields), the show is set on the new LED panel displays on the Burj Khalifa, with over 1.1 million pixels.

A highlight of the show is the visual tribute to the founding father of the UAE, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, to coincide with the nation commemorating 2018 as the ‘Year of Zayed’. Powerful beams and LED lights create motifs and patterns in myriad hues flickering up and down the entire height of the tower. The show also has an abstract depiction of the elements of nature.
