Maqsood stars as Mir defeat Desert Lions

-

dubai — Mir Cricket Club turned out victorious against Desert Lions by nine wickets in the fourth match of Junoon Cup Season 1 in Ajman.

Asked to bat first, Desert Lions made a very shaky start by losing early wickets. Desert Lions wickets collapsed at regular intervals as Mir Cricket Club’s bowlers got the better off them and restricted Desert Lions to a low total.

Desert Lions captain Adeel Siddiqui, coming down the order, was the highest scorer for Desert Lions with a total of 23 runs off 27 balls with 2 fours that helped Desert Lions reach their total of 113 runs. Mir Cricket Club’s bowlers looked really sharp and their fielders supported them throughout the innings to bowl Desert Lions out for 113 runs in 18.5 overs. Saifullah Noor was the star for Mir Cricket Club in bowling with figures of 3-12 in four overs. Another fiery bowler for Mir was Zaheer Maqsood who conceded 13 runs in four overs taking two wickets.

Having to chase a low total, Mir Cricket Club’s openers stepped up and took the responsibility to finish the game by not losing any wickets. Sandeep Singh and Syed Maqsood scored the highest partnership of Junoon Cup with a total of 105 runs in just 8.5 overs.

Syed Maqsood who was having a rocky start with the bat in the first few overs manged to score a fiery 81 runs off 36 balls with eight gigantic sixes and five fours.

Sandeep Singh played sensibly, rotating the strike and letting the big man Syed Maqsood hit the ball all over the park. Sandeep Singh scored 20 runs off 24 balls with 2 sixes as Mir Cricket Club secured their first win of the tournament in a low scoring match. The man-of-the-match award was claimed by Syed Maqsood (81 runs, 36 balls, 5 fours & 8 sixes).
