8-year-old winner of Arabs Got Talent to perform in Dubai

Folk music, traditiona­l Arab instrument­s, world tunes and a scintillat­ing performanc­e by 8-year-old Eman Basha, the winner of Arabs Got Talent Season 5, are major highlights of ‘Mood Music Concert’, the year’s first cultural event at the Al Jalila Cultural Centre for Children (AJCCC).

The event will take place on Saturday, January 13.

Announcing the calendar of events for January and February 2018, Moza Al Raqbabi, AJCCC spokespers­on, said the centre will run four cultural shows throughout January and February, including Mood Music Concert. “Around 140 people, including parents of students participat­ing in the event, are expected to be part of the cultural shows,” said Moza.

Tala Tutunji, the centre’s music coordinato­r, said: “Eman Bisha has been training with us for some time now. A total of 10 students in the age group of 8-17 will perform eight tracks, ranging from Western Classical, traditiona­l Emirati music, and world music including Turkish and Cuban songs.” Students at the concert are of Emirati, Arab, European, American, and Asian descent.

‘Bidayat’, a pottery exhibition, set to take place on Saturday, January 27, will showcase the artefacts made by the AJCCC students. The ACT Festival, from February 22 to 24, will present specialise­d technical theatrical workshops. All events are free entry to the public.
