Hamdan lauds police academy cadets

dubai — Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, on Tuesday attended the graduation ceremony of the 25th batch of student cadet officers of the Dubai Police Academy.

The ceremony was also attended by Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, chairman of the Dubai Air Authority and chairman of Emirates Group; Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and Sheikh Hasher bin Maktoum Al Maktoum, director of the Dubai Media Department.

Other attendees included Lieutenant-General Dhahi Khalfan Tamim, Deputy Chief of Police and Public Security in Dubai; MajorGener­al Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of the Dubai Police; and Major-General Dr Ahmed bin Fahad, assistant commander-in-chief for Academic Affairs and Training at Dubai Police, guests and consuls of Arab and foreign countries in Dubai, and the graduates’ family members.

During the ceremony, the graduates performed a military parade in front of the main podium and saluted the patron of the ceremony, which was followed by an inspection of the new graduates.

The Dean of the police academy, Brigadier Dr Ghaith Ghanim Al Suwaidi, welcomed the guests and conveyed his thanks and gratitude to the President, His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, for their interest in developing the country’s police and security institutio­ns.

Sheikh Hamdan honoured the outstandin­g students and called on them to continue their training, enhance their talents and develop their physical and military skills. He praised the graduates’ skills and the competence and dedication shown by the academy’s officers, trainers and academic professors.

Major-General Al Marri distribute­d certificat­es to the 112 passing students and the flag of the 25th batch was then handed over to the next batch. Of the 112, four stu- dents were awarded a distinctio­n with honours, 19 got a very good rating, six obtained a PhD in Law and Police Sciences from the academy and 33 got their Master’s degree in Law and Police Sciences.

Khalid Ali Ibrahim Ali Al Ali, the student who placed first overall and won the sword of honour, expressed his gratitude to the academy. He praised the principles of sincerity, dedication and excellence instilled in them at the academy. Ahmadi Ibrahim Ahmed Amadi, who bagged second place in the general assembly and first in military discipline, called on the new candidates to take advantage of everything the Dubai Police Academy offered, in terms of training and expertise.

Ahmed Muayad Sabri, who ranked third overall, pointed out that their years of training in various security and legal issues is the starting point for a life of service to the homeland.

After the graduates received their passing honours, the ceremony ended with a military presentati­on by a group of police officers.
