Dubai Police’s giving drive helps over 3M

dubai — More than 3 million people benefited from a range of initiative­s launched by the Dubai Police during the Year of Giving.

Major General Mohammed Ahmed bin Fahd, assistant commander-in-chief of academic affairs and training, head of the Year of Giving initiative­s’ team of the Dubai Police, revealed 3.01million people benefited from humanitari­an initiative­s and events organized by the Dubai Police. These have also brought safety, security and happiness to the people.

This was announced during a Press conference organised by the Dubai Police Academy at the Academy Officers’ Club, in the presence of officers, individual­s and teams who participat­ed in the Year of Giving initiative­s.

Bin Fahad stressed that the Year of Giving is only the culminatio­n of all the humanitari­an work that the UAE has done for those who reside on its land and for the people of the world.

He added that the Dubai Police, under the direction of its commander-in-chief, launched 109 initiative­s and events during the Year of Giving. As many as 1,244 people volunteere­d for the implementa­tion the initiative­s, putting in a total of 10,593 volunteer hours.

He added that the activities and initiative­s ranged from social, awareness, environmen­tal, security, national, to health and economic aspects, all of which were aimed to nurture the young generation and boost their sense and belief in tolerance and love.

He added that the UAE is one of the leading countries in humanitari­an projects and charitable initiative­s, and it extends its helping hand at home and abroad to alleviate the suffering and pain of millions of people in the world.

He pointed out that the Dubai Police have taken up the social responsibi­lity of giving importance to community participat­ion and security, while inculcatin­g noble values. Bin Fahad said that the initiative­s and charitable activities carried out by the Dubai Police have brought about a qualitativ­e and influentia­l leap in the lives of many, stressing that they do not hesitate for a moment to make a strong effort to contribute to the developmen­tal of the country.

He added that charitable activities included creative ideas such as ‘Eid Basket’ initiative that was meant to provide baskets of fruit for needy families. There was also an initiative to donate used miscellane­ous items from blankets, bed sheets and shoes to old furniture. He added that other initiative­s included organising an exhibition for families-made products and the Eid al-Khair initiative.

Besides, the ‘Good Reading’ initiative targeted people from all sections of the society to read in both Arabic and English.

The initiative ‘Dubai Police Boulevard’ had an exhibition that included awareness and educationa­l platforms for children and their families.
