Middle East security and safety market to hit $25.3B
dubai — Homeland and commercial security market in the Middle East, estimated at $12.2 billion, will more than double in four years to hit $25.3 billion, according to data released on Tuesday in the run up to Intersec, a leading trade fair for security, safety, and fire protection.
Participation at Intersec 2018, which is set for opening on January 21 at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre, will reflect this dynamism and growing size of the region’s security and safety market, organisers said.
A special feature at the 20th edition of the show, featuring 1,337 exhibitors from 59 countries, is a Drone Zone and artificial intelligence conference. The three-day show will span 60,000sqm of exhibition space across 13 halls, and features 19 of the world’s top 20 commercial security solutions providers.

Analysts at Frost & Sullivan revealed at a press conference that in 1998, the Middle East’s homeland and commercial security market combined was worth just $52.4 million. Since then, the market has grown at an impressive CAGR of 33 per cent, and is currently worth $12.2 billion, while by 2022, it will touch $25.3 billion.
The commercial security market, comprising video surveillance, access control, and intrusion detection, was worth $2.6 billion in 2017 according to F&S, while Homeland Security, comprising monitoring and surveillance, restricted entry systems, and perimeter security solutions, was worth $9.6 billion. The steep rise in the regional market is matched by the trade visitor count to Intersec, which in 2018, is expected to be more than 32,000 from 129 countries, compared to just 3,100 in 1999, organisers Messe Frankfurt Middle East said.
Ahmed Pauwels, chief executive officer of Messe Frankfurt Middle East, said as the world’s leading trade, networking and business development platform for the safety, security and fire protection industries, Intersec will rewrite old records and add more milestones at the 20th anniversary edition.
The Intersec 2018 press conference was also addressed by senior representatives of the show’s official government partners; the Dubai Police, Dubai Civil Defence, Dubai Police Academy, the Security Industry Regulatory Authority (SIRA), and for the first time in 2018, the Dubai Municipality.
