What the residents say: ‘Is artificial intelligence making us dumb?’

For AI

AI is definitely going to make a big entry into the global market in the next five to ten years. It is super exciting to see where it is going to take us as a species. I’d love to see what facets it opens up for us. I also think that it would be super cool to have an actual physical representation of Siri or Cortana that helps out at home, or like a little BB-8 that accompanies you everywhere as your own personal buddy.” Sandeep David

I suppose it is okay if robots were to make low-level decisions that are commonplace for humans. I also see a future where robots thrive in the manufacturing industry. AI is also great for autonomous cars and travel and for basic medical diagnosis. But it will not eliminate human contact, especially in service-based industries.” Jyotsna Kanjhan

I see a future where families have a sort of mechanical butler helping out at home, assisting them in mundane tasks. Menial labour and blue collared jobs would be delegated to robots with AI. Homes would be equipped with AI systems to function almost automatically.” Vinayak S

The use of AI is not just limited to everyday human actions and mundane tasks. We use AI on a day-to-day basis already in software, for various functions as basic as operating a microwave, to something as complicated as self-driving cars. In the future, that is only going to increase. However, that does not negate the value of human contact.” Nathan Vaidya
