PM challenges opposition to move no-trust motion in NA

-

bhakkar — Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Saturday challenged the opposition to move a no-confidence motion in the National Assembly and dissolve their governments in provincial assemblies it they were so confident of their chances in the next elections.

“They threatened to dissolve provincial assemblies to impede Senate elections. I have a clear message for those who curse parliament — dissolve assemblies, if you can. The people will give their response in the elections which will be held in July 2018. This politics of falsehood, conspiracy and curse will be buried forever in the next election,” he said addressing the launching ceremony of Prime Minister’s Health Insurance Card here.

“Those who recently organised a circus on the Mall Road of Lahore would come to know what the politics is all about as they would approach the masses after dissolving the provincial assemblies. People had not voted them to dissolve assemblies; but for resolving national and public issues,” Abbasi added.

He assured the gathering that the PML-N’s government would complete its term. “I challenge those who curse parliament to move a no-confidence motion in the National Assembly. Those who want assembly to be dissolved should first move a motion,” he told a charged crowd holding PML-N flags.

Criticising the opposition’s show in Lahore, the prime minister said they had set a new precedent of cursing parliament despite striving to become its member.

He said former prime minister Nawaz Sharif always believed in the politics of decency, public welfare and national development and not of cursing parliament.

The prime minister also distributed health insurance cards among the deserving people that would allow them free medical treatment of up to Rs300,000 from private hospitals. He said now the poor people would not have to take loans or sell out their belongings to support medical treatment of their family members.

He said around 1.5 million families were benefiting from the health card scheme that was the brainchild of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif aimed at providing medical facility to the poor people.

Abbasi said the scheme would be launched in every district of the country, besides Gilgit-Baltistan, Fata and Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

The prime minister who earlier launched work on a bridge to connect Bhakkar with D.I. Khan, said during the last 65 years only 580km-long motorway was built and that too during the PML-N government tenure.

However, during the last five years the government had extended the motorway network to 1,700 kilometres, he added. — APP
