Wife reunites with critically ill hubby
dubai — A woman has been reunited with her critically ill husband at a UAE hospital, thanks to timely intervention from Indian Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj.
After reaching Dubai on Saturday morning, Garima posted a photo of herself with her husband — who had suffered a stroke — and tweeted: “With husband. I think he recognised me, his eyes welled and he put his arm out to receive me.”
She had first tweeted to @SushmaSwaraj on January 18, requesting help to expedite her visit visa to the UAE. After Swaraj responded, Garima’s visa was processed by Friday afternoon.
dubai — After several days of agonising pain to see her hospitalised husband, Garima finally made her way to Dubai thanks to the Indian Minister of External Affairs (MEA) Sushma Swaraj.
Garima arrived in Dubai early Saturday morning, and tweeted a picture of herself with her unconscious husband, and said: “Thank u @SushmaSwaraj mam, @ MEAIndia @cgidubai! With husband. I think he recognised me, his eyes welled and he put his arm out to receive me. My entire family thanks you.”
The Delhi woman, who has been actively tweeting about her husband’s situation since January 17, revealed that her husband may have suffered an Ischaemic stroke. She first posted a tweet addressed @SushmaSwaraj on January 18 requesting help to expedite her visit visa to UAE.
After 1,500 retweets, Swaraj replied and assured that everything
I have to smile around him. He should not see me weeping and crying. After many moments of restlessness as he cannot speak, he has slept. Thanks, people. Indebted for the support.” Garima @agg_garima
would be done to help her. Officials at the Consulate General of India in Dubai swung into action and completed the paper work for her visa by Friday afternoon.
She tweeted a second time saying: “I have to smile around him. He should not see me weeping and crying. Finally, after many moments of restlessness in him as he cannot speak, he has slept. Thanks, people. Indebted for the support.”
Garima also took to Twitter to provide a play-by-play of how her husband suffered the stroke and credited her husband’s employer for using her presence of mind to find him. The patient had recently shifted into a new flat in their apartment building, and no one knew where it was. “His boss realised something was wrong with him when he typed some gibberish as an official reply,” she tweeted.
The victim’s colleague and employers contacted Garima and began to look for him. Since his movement and speech were severely impaired, her husband could not communicate where he was, and eight to 10 hours were lost searching for him.
Fortunately, the apartment building watchmen identified Garima’s husband’s pictures and rushed to the flat, and eventually took him to the hospital. “By the time he was taken to the hospital, almost 12 hours had lapsed. Severe loss of time. But we are blessed in certain way. Don’t live alone. Don’t let your loved ones live alone in far off places,” she tweeted last night.
