Two men arrested while trying to sell two women in Sharjah

sharjah — The Sharjah Police have arrested two men, Nepali nationals, charged with human traffickin­g and trying to sell women.

The Sharjah Criminal Court presided by judge Mahmood Abu Baker, confronted the two accused who exploited the women and forced them into prostituti­on. The men had promised jobs and took the two women to Al Nabaa area and attempted to sell them to an undercover policeman.

The case came to light on June 25

The women were in a panic as they had no idea that the accused were planning to sell them.”

Police officer testtifies

last year, when a police officer learned that the two accused were looking for buyers to sell women. He informed the authoritie­s concerned and after taking permission from the prosecutio­n posed as a potential buyer. The two accused were arrested red-handed in an ambush.

During the court hearing, the police officer testified that he received informatio­n about the attempt to sell women and set a trap to arrest them. While the first suspect received money from the officer, the second accused came to the location with the two women.

The policewoma­n testified that the two women were in a panic as they had no idea that the two accused were planning to sell them.

The two accused denied the charges. The case is adjourned until March.
