3-day annual family forum begins on Feb 13
sharjah — The department of family development centres (FDC), a Supreme Council of Family Affairs institution, announced the 16th edition of the Annual Family Forum on Monday.
Themed ‘By Morality, Nations are Built’, the annual forum will be held on February 13, 14 and 15 at the FDC headquarters in Sharjah city and its branches in Dhaid and Korfakhan, respectively.
The event held under the patronage of and in the presence of His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, and his wife Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs in Sharjah, will focus on strengthening the department’s service to the community. In line with the social ideals of UAE Vision 2021, the forum will explore the significance of family values, aiming to protect Emirati family ethics and local cultural values from the modern moral disruptions.
The three-day event will see practical programmes to provide moral education to families and enable them to achieve success and nurture qualified citizens.
This year, the forum will focus on three core values. Dr Sheikh Sultan will share his insights on the first — the Social and Cultural Dimension of Value and Morality System, focusing on the cultural, social and religious traditions of Emirati families.
The role of Arabic, Islamic and ethical education in amplifying familial and social values to transform people and protect their dignity and security, will be highlighted.
Dr Tahani Sabah from Kuwait will talk on the second core value, The Roles of Socialisation Institutes in Developing Morality, which will primarily cover the changing concept of modern families, family problems and issues. Dr Sabah will also hold on the role of religious institutes in moral upbringing, besides media organisations’ role, the impact of kids’ programming, electronic games, audio-visual and social media platforms on children’s psyche.
Aisha Obeid Al Muheiri will debate on the third core value — ‘Emirati family according to the UAE Vision 2021’ — covering the leadership’s role in developing the Emirati family, outcomes of the national service, and the impact of the personal status law, public law, family court, social support centres and the Ministry of Interior’s role in dealing with social problems.
Mody Al Shamsi, general manager of FDC, and Moza Al Shehhi, director of FDC branches, will showcase a study titled ‘Moral Values: Reality and Challenges’ at the forum. This study will reveal the most vital research and statistics concerning family issues.
A media workshop will be held on the sidelines of the event.
