Sharjah cops nail gang of four mobile thieves
sharjah — The Sharjah Police have arrested a four-member gang — comprising Pakistani nationals — who stole mobiles and electronic gadgets from shops after breaking into them, in Al Madam area as well as other emirates.
Major Abdallah Suleiman Al Maleeh, deputy director of the criminal investigation department (CID) at the central area of Sharjah, said that the arrests were made following a robbery notification received from one of the targeted shops whose owner found all the goods, including mobile devices and electronic gadgets worth Dh24,000, stolen from the premises.
“On receiving the information, we immediately arrived at the attacked shop to collect fingerprints and launched a probe to arrest the burglars.”
Following a preliminary investigation, the police nabbed a suspect who was a Pakistani national. After a thorough search, a bag containing mobile phones and accessories were found in his possession. The suspect confessed robbing the shops with the help of two others and another accomplice who specialised in breaking into shops.
Major Al Maleeh said that after being arrested, the four confessed robbing various shops in Al Madam area and other emirates. The suspects are currently detained and will be referred to the public prosecution.
Colonel Ahmed Mohamed Bin Darwish, director of the central police centre, urged owners of shops to install surveillance cameras tand report robberies to the police without delay to enable them to investigate and arrest the culprits immediately.
