Three other people, including the deceased Comoros Island national’s two other sons and an Emirati national, sustained serious to moderate injuries in the collision involving two saloon cars, according to a senior police officer.

Brigadier Dr Mohammed Saeed Al Humaidi, director-general of the central operations department at the RAK Police, said on Friday morning that they were alerted about the accident on Thursday around 3.20pm.

“Traffic police patrols, ambulances, paramedics and rescue teams were immediately dispatched to the site, and removed the vehicles off the road.”

Initial enactment of the accident showed that the deceased took a wrong U-turn and entered the other road without making sure it was clear, he added.

“The 21-year-old Emirati driver of the other car was driving properly when he was surprised with the Comoros national’s car and could not avoid the collision.”

The deceased’s other two sons, aged 12 and 14 years, were seriously hurt, while the Emirati driver sustained moderate injuries, he stated. “The bodies were shifted to the morgue while all the injured were rushed to the hospital.” ahmedshaaban@khaleejtimes.com
