These Abu Dhabi roads will be partially shut

abu dhabi — Take a detour, if you are in the Capital today. Also, be prepared to follow new traffic arrangemen­ts until Saturday.

The fourth edition of Abu Dhabi Tour, a five-stage road cycling race, is bringing some of the best riders to Abu Dhabi which means the streets will be briefly closed during the course of the four-day event, which begins on Wednesday.

Today, travellers and residents of Madinat Zayed need to watch out. The area from Shams Solar Power Station on E45 (11.30pm closure and again at 3.45pm), Liwa region on E90 (1pm and 2pm) will be partiality hit. This stage is mainly on roads in the desert. The main disruption will happen during the start and end of race when riders are at town limits of Madinat Zayed (11.30am to 12.30pm and between 3.45pm and 5pm).

On Thursday, stage 2 will be on Yas Island. Areas including Reem Island, Al Rahba, Al Samha, Khalifa Port, Al Taweelah, Al Sader, Al Bahia (2pm) and Yas Island will all shut for brief period.

Friday will see race cover the city. The Nation Towers Stage will see riders start from Corniche (closed from 12.45pm) to Al Bateen Street (1.10pm), Al Khaleej Al Arabi, Adnec, onto Mussafah bridge (1.30pm), exit to Al Wathba (2.05pm), Baniyas City (2.30pm), Yas Island (3.20pm), Saadiyat Island, Louvre Abu Dhabi interchang­e and enter Corniche (3.50pm).

Saturday will be Stage 4 of the race at Al Maryah Island.

The grand finale will be the Al Ain-Jebel Hafeet Stage. The race starts at 11.45am from Al Ain.
