3 winners out of 6K participan­ts in Dubai’s arty treasure hunt

dubai — Three emerged winners from among 6,100 residents who joined a citywide treasure hunt launched in celebratio­n of the life and legacy of Father of the Nation, the late Sheikh Zayed.

Dubai Cares launched Scavenger Hunt, from January 8 to 29, asking participan­ts to hunt for 15 art pieces hidden inside light bulb structures and placed across key locations in Dubai.

Dubai Cares officials revealed that over 7,400 people downloaded the Scavenger Hunt applicatio­n on their smartphone­s and 106 participan­ts were rewarded with prizes worth several thousands.

“Residents had to search for the light-bulb shaped structure and once discovered, with the help of three clues, participan­ts scanned a QR code to confirm that they have found it, which was recorded on the Dubai Cares app,” said Amal Al Redha, director of fundraisin­g at Dubai Cares.

The art pieces were themed ambition, commitment, courage, creativity, giving, gratitude, happiness, innovation, kindness, leadership, opportunit­y, tolerance, peace, resilience and trust.

Winners, their prizes

Ahmad Safwan, the first winner of the Scavenger Hunt said: “I first heard about the Dubai Cares Scavenger Hunt in a news article. Then I decided to embark on a challengin­g and day-long journey all around Dubai.”

He was awarded with an opportunit­y to volunteer abroad with Dubai Cares (volunteer globally), one annual day pass for Dubai Parks & Resorts and a two nightstay for two at the Versace Hotel.

Rama Al Akram, who came in second place was awarded with an opportunit­y for five volunteers to participat­e in Volunteer Emirates 2018, one annual day pass for Dubai Parks & Resorts and a Dubai Mall voucher worth Dh3,000.

Femith Moideen, the third winner, was awarded with an opportunit­y for five volunteers to participat­e in Volunteer Emirates 2018, one annual day pass for Dubai Parks & Resorts and a Dubai Mall voucher worth Dh2,000.

The top three winners were also awarded a Sensasia spa voucher.

The 15 lightbulb structures were located in Al Fahidi, Box Park, City Walk 1, City Walk 2, Dubai Airport – Terminal 3, Dubai Design District, Dubai Glow Garden, Dubai Mall and other key areas in the city.

More than 325 completed at least 10 challenges, bringing the total number of challenges solved to 5,900.
