Curtin University Dubai launches Urban Arts Festival 2018 to celebrate talent
dubai — Curtin University Dubai, one of Australia’s most highly regarded and prestigious universities, has launched its inaugural Curtin Urban Arts Festival 2018 in Dubai.
The festival will include workshops, masterclasses and competitions for students in the UAE to put their artistic skills to the test. There’s a photography competition titled ‘UAE’s Multicultural Heritage’, and also a graffiti competition that will provide students the chance to showcase their work at Curtin’s Dubai International Academic City campus by creating a mural of their own graffiti art.
Curtin University’s Deputy ViceChancellor International, and Acting Pro Vice-Chancellor of Curtin Dubai, Professor Seth Kunin said: “We are committed to encouraging our own students to expand their creative horizon even further in a highly ranked academic environment. The Festival will help us celebrate the launch of our Arts and Humanities courses at the Dubai campus, as well as introduce a new generation of urban artists to Dubai.”
Students from all over the UAE are invited to submit their artwork and take part in the competition and seek to be crowned Curtin Dubai’s Artist of the Year 2018. The festival will encourage high school students, and anybody else with an artistic flair, to take part and showcase their artwork to the UAE public. Winners will receive Merit Scholarships from Curtin University Dubai, and recognition in the form of prizes, certificates and a chance to promote their art from festivals sponsors Nikon, Café Ceramique, Muse Artz Gallery, and Dubai International Academic City’s Student Hub.
Entries for the Curtin Urban Arts Festival will be accepted until February 25. Students, parents, and people with a general interest in art will be able to take art workshops with professional artists from 11 to 15 February at Curtin University Dubai’s campus in Block 11 of Dubai International Academic City.
