New smart system to reduce response time to emergencies

- Afkar Abdullah

sharjah — The Sharjah Police have introduced a new advanced system that will help reduce response time to emergencies and crises to less than five minutes. This will go a long way in saving more lives and properties.

The quick response management system — MDT — will enhance the functioning through a software that operates through iPads linked to the operations rooms. The system will provide quick information about the callers, place of emergency and movement at the emergency site. It will also function as GPS to guide the patrol to the location of the crisis at the earliest, said Maj-Gen Saif Al Zari Al Shamsi, Commander-in-Chief of the Sharjah Police, who launched the system on Sunday.

Shamsi added that the new system will provide traffic or security patrols with all the information related to the emergency, not only its location but also the level of its importance as soon as the call is received at the operations room. This will allow quick access to the site and double the rate of response to the emergency, he added.

He added that the Sharjah Police, as part of its project Sharjah Safe City, is making huge efforts to introduce the latest technology to improve its traffic safety and security services in the emirate.

The Sharjah Police recently installed more advanced cameras across the emirate to detect crimes and ensure their prevention. These cameras alert the police before an accident takes place, thereby improving road safety.
