dubai — A couple of weeks before its newest flagships officially fly off the shelves in the UAE, Samsung is putting on a show to whet consumers’ appetite even more.

Plus, more importantly, the chance to experience the Galaxy S9 and S9+ first-hand. The South Korean titan on Friday installed an experience zone at the bridge linking The Dubai Mall and Souk Al Bahar, giving consumers the chance to play around with its latest smartphones.

For good measure, Samsung displayed the S9 and S9+ on the facade of the Burj Khalifa, using LED lights and multi-sensory experiences.

“The Burj Khalifa is a stunning work of modern art and an unparalleled feat if engineering,” Tarek Sabbagh, head of Samsung Electronics Gulf ’s IT and mobile division, said in a statement.

“So it is only fitting that we would choose this building to help us launch the Galaxy S9.”

The company says it is the first technology brand to be featured on the exterior of the world’s tallest building. Fresh off its unveiling at last week’s Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, the Galaxy S9 and S9+ have so far garnered positive initial reviews.

Samsung ramped up the cameras, using technologies that mimic the human eye, automatically adjusting to lighting situations. It also comes with AR Emoji, its answer to Apple’s Animoji on the iPhone X. Samsung’s offering, however, can be used across any smartphone and by third-party apps. For those who missed last night’s light show, an encore will be done at 8pm today.

The Galaxy S9 and S9+ will be in stores from March 16 and will start at Dh3,099.
