Bookings for Dubai car licence plate auction begins today
dubai — The Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) is offering 80 licence plates bearing 2, 3, 4 and 5 digits of codes I, J, K, L, M, N, O, P, Q, R, S, T and W in its 98th open auction. The auction will be held at Park Hyatt Hotel near Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club next Saturday at 4.30pm.
The registration of bidders opens from today (March 4). The offering includes an array of unique numbers such as W22, T400, T6666 and T88888.

“Participation in the auction requires the potential bidder to have a traffic file in Dubai. A cheque amounting to Dh25,000 has to be deposited but can be redeemed in case no successful bid is made. An amount of Dh120 has to be paid as subscription fees. Potential bidders can also pay deposits by credit cards or submit the cheque number through RTA website (www.rta.ae), provided the cheque will be deposited to the counter staff on the auction day together with the subscription fees in cash.
Successful bidders have to settle dues within ten working days starting from the closure of the auction to avoid deposit forfeiture and blacklisting of defaulters. Any bidder can own an unspecified number of plates.
“A dedicated team at RTA’s call centre (8009090) will respond to any public inquiries relating to the auction. Open auctions are popular as they offer direct competitive bidding platform. They contribute to realising RTA’s third strategic goal (People Happiness), especially for those who have a passion to own distinctive plates,” added Al Marzooqi.
