‘CPEC will be a game changer for entire region’
islamabad — China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is a game changer, not only for Pakistan but for the entire region, Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal has said.
In an interview with PTV, he said Pakistan will become an industrial hub of South Asia after completion of this project.
Iqbal said CPEC will bring mega improvement in various sectors including energy, industrial cooperation, infrastructure development besides creating millions of job opportunities for the countrymen.
To a question, the minister said the government with its effective policies, reduced terrorist acts, overcome energy shortage and improved law and order situation in the country. He said some 11,500 MW electricity was added to the national grid during the last four years due to which the chronic issue of loadshedding has been eliminated from the country.
Expressing the same sentiments, the newly-elected chairman of senate, Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani, said the CPEC will prove as a game changer not only for Balochistan and Pakistan rather for the entire region.
He also said that he is holding consultations with all the stake holders to seek consensus on all matters of national interest.
Menahwile, senior professionals of the engineering community at an interactive-technical session in Islamabad called for doing proper home-work to take benefit of the CPEC. It is imperative to properly Pakistan’s domestic Information Technology (IT) market is expected to witness growth due to the CPEC projects .
A spokesperson of ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication said, the ongoing scheme regarding CPEC includes, conceive, plan and negotiate the CPEC to ensure its trickle-down impact on the life of a common man, said Engr. Zamir Ahmed Awan, who worked as diplomat in Pakistani embassy in Beijing and had a long working experience with Chinese officials and enterprises. Engr. Zamir who has recently set up a Chinese Studies Centre of Excellence at the National University of Science and Technology gave a detailed presentation on opportunities and way-forward in special reference to CPEC. — APP
