Protect online space from hackers
At a time when life is increasingly being lived online than off line, it is important to know how to keep yourself and businesses safe in the virtual world.
1 Passwords:
It’s good to change passwords regularly, and use symbols, special characters, combination of upper and lower case alphabets and numerics to make the password strong. And never reuse your e-mail passwords.
2 Different layers of authentication:
Biometric and facial recognition are good ways to protect accounts and data. If you have this facility, use it.
3 Oversharing of information:
Whenever you share your location, personal information, or take an online quiz, you might be helping hackers know your lifestyle, passwords and more. Better to be conscious before hitting that share button.
4 Easy access to account:
Saving credit card or bank details on your favourite shopping website might save a few minutes and hassle of keying in the numbers, but it makes your account vulnerable to attack. Do not give the keys to your safe to hackers on a platter. Protect your data.
5 Be wary of public Wi-Fi:
Information sent to websites when on public Wi-Fi is not encrypted or protected, which makes it easy to hack into. When on public Wi-Fi, it is better not to use any apps or websites that might send out sensitive data. This includes websites of banks, other financial services, and even social media platforms.
