Riyadh book fair honours Zayed

riyadh — While visiting the Riyadh Internatio­nal Book Fair, Dr Zaki Nusseibeh, Minister of State, participat­ed in the seminar ‘2018: Year of Zayed’, about the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, his visionary leadership and pioneering foreign policy.

The seminar, led by Saudi journalist Ibrahim Al Helali, reviewed the long-standing UAE-Saudi relations establishe­d by Sheikh Zayed, binding the two nations’ common interests and their solidarity during challengin­g times, highlighti­ng their religious bond, brotherly ties and shared cultural heritage.

Dr Nusseibeh noted that Sheikh Zayed aspired to achieve peace, coexistenc­e and cooperatio­n between countries. Characteri­sed for his tolerance and respect for all, he favoured peaceful dialogue and reconcilia­tion to resolve disputes and aimed to unite people from all walks of life to achieve happiness, wellbeing and prosperity for humanity.

He hailed Sheikh Zayed as a symbol of Arab unity and a leading force in establishi­ng strong foreign relations among all Gulf States, highlighti­ng his pivotal role in working with Saudi Arabia to establish the Gulf Cooperatio­n Council (GCC).

On a regional level, he sought to help resolve difference­s and strengthen relations between countries through constructi­ve interactio­n and solidarity. He was also determined to build strategic economic partnershi­ps linked to global humanitari­an principles, in line with philanthro­pic goals.

Dr Nusseibeh said: “It is wonderful to witness firsthand the strong relationsh­ip enjoyed by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. This exhibition represents an important cultural experience that reflects Saudi Arabia’s exemplary standing in the cultural and educationa­l fields,” added Dr. Nusseibeh. —
