Waste removed from ship that sank in creek

dubai — An estimated 16.3million tonne of waste was removed from a commercial ship that sank in the Dubai Creek on Thursday, according to Dubai Municipali­ty. The clearing of waste contribute­d to the uninterrup­ted navigation­al movement and preservati­on of the marine environmen­t.

Talib Julfar, assistant directorge­neral of the Dubai Municipali­ty for environmen­t and public health services sector, said the ship loaded with goods had set out at dawn on Thursday to exit the Dubai Creek, but it collided with one of the wave breakers and sank at the entrance to the creek.
