Police unveil smart bike, portable control room

dubai — A solar-powered portable control room, smart bike and helmets were among the smart solutions exhibited by Dubai Police at the Dubai Internatio­nal Government Achievemen­ts Exhibition (DIGAE).

The Dubai Police’s presentati­on of its latest achievemen­ts in the smart and technical fields included Amel, the volunteer robot which uses artificial intelligen­ce technology in raising awareness about the dangers of narcotics and ways of prevent use of drugs.

Abdullah Mohammed Khalfan Al Shamsi, head of wireless systems at the general department of operations, said that the solarpower­ed portable operations room will come in handy to handle emergency situation at remote areas and to communicat­e directly with the command and control centre of the police.

The mobile operation room contains 20 services as well as a link to the internal communicat­ion system of the Dubai Police and the unified criminal system.

Introducin­g the smart bike, First Sergeant Naima Jamal said the bike used by VIP protection team can run up to a speed of 300kmph and has smart communicat­ion devices that connects the team members during the task. The smart helmet used by the VIP protection teams will have a Bluetooth connection system as well as an alarm light panel.

Colonel Abdullah Al Hayat, director of awareness and prevention department of the general department of anti-narcotics at the Dubai Police, said that volunteer robot Amal targets student community as the young generation relies heavily on smart technologi­es.

The Dubai Police pavilion witnessed a large number of visitors on the second day of the exhibition, which will end tomorrow.
