UAE’s first private dental hospital opens in Ajman

ajman — The UAE’s first private dental hospital was opened at Thumbay Medicity, Al Jurf, in Ajman on Tuesday. The hospital is also the largest academic dental hospital in the Middle East region’s private sector.

The Thumbay Dental Hospital, built-up in an area of 37,000 square feet, has 60 dental chairs spread across three floors. The hospital, which is also open on Fridays, is staffed by a team of caregivers from 25 different nationalit­ies, capable of serving patients in 50 different languages.

The hospital plans to introduce stem cell treatment for dental diseases. An advanced ‘Dental Stem Cell Bank’ for harvesting/banking dental stem cells is planned at the hospital.

The hospital also trains the students of the undergradu­ate and proposed post-graduate courses of the College of Dentistry, Gulf Medical University (GMU).

It offers services and treatments in general dentistry, endodontic­s, paedodonti­cs, periodonti­cs, invisalign, veneers & lumineers, dentures, crowns and bridges, simple and complicate­d extraction­s and Hollywood smile. Specialise­d services also include implants, orthodonti­cs, lasers & endodontic microscope­s, cosmetic dentistry, treatment for facial pain, complicate­d oral surgeries and sleep apnea.

The hospital has an in-house dental lab for accurate dental prosthesis. It also features dedicated central sterile services department (CSSD) for infection control.

Akbar Moideen Thumbay, vicepresid­ent of Thumbay Group’s healthcare division, said: “We are pleased to open Thumbay Dental Hospital to provide UAE residents and medical tourists with the highest quality dental services. Outlining the strategic plans for the healthcare division, Dr Thumbay Moideen, the founder president of Thumbay Group, said: “The Thumbay academic hospital network will have a total of 1,000 beds in the UAE, 1,500 beds in India and 750 beds elsewhere in the Gulf and Africa by 2022, in addition to upcoming clinics, day care hospitals, labs and pharmacies at various locations.”

Various soon-to-open clinics and pharmacies are at different stages of developmen­t in locations including Deira Waterfront, Dragon Mart and Bur Dubai in Dubai and Abu Shagara and Rahmaniya Mall in Sharjah.
