dubai — The Dubai Municipality is all set to celebrate the GCC Food Safety Week from April 15 to 19 with a wide range of activities aimed at creating increased awareness among all stakeholders related to food safety.
Sunday officially marks the GCC Food Safety Day, but to ensure that all stakeholders in the food chain are covered, the municipality has decided to expand this day for an entire week.
“Since food safety is the primary concern of any society, we are trying our best to engage all segments of the society through a wide array of events we have lined up for the GCC Food Safety Week,” said Iman Ali Al Bastaki, director of Food Safety Department at the Dubai Municipality.
Activities of the GCC Food Safety Week will also include a seminar on food safety trends at the Dubai World Trade Centre, which will be addressed by food safety experts. The seminar, to be held on April 18 from 9am to 2pm, will be attended by Persons in Charge (PiCs) and hygiene managers of foodstuff establishments, officials of foodstuff manufacturing companies, five-star hotels, restaurants and other food outlets.
In its third edition of the seminar, the civic body will be presenting the latest issues and solutions surrounding food safety. As part of its vision to gain a better and holistic view of food safety, the food safety department will cover a plethora of issues ranging from certification of PiCs, nutrition and latest technological advancements in food safety.
Throughout the GCC Food Safety Week, food safety tips will be posted on Dubai Municipality social media channels in order to create awareness among the public, who can look forward to learn new tips, basically on dining out.
