Think Science Fair to begin on April 16
abu dhabi — Emirates Foundation will officially inaugurate the sixth edition of Think Science Fair on April 16 at the Dubai World Trade Centre.
Under the patronage of Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and Chairman of Emirates Foundation, and in line with the UAE Innovation strategy, the three-day fair will take place in partnership with Ministry of Education and the Department of Education and Knowledge with the aim of empowering youth between the ages of 15-35 to actively engage with the digital revolution and provides them with the right platform to innovate and deploy technology to pursue STI education and careers.
Maytha Al Habsi, CEO of Emirates Foundation, said: “As we continue to evolve our Think Science programme, we are building a true ecosystem for youth innovation, in line with the foundation’s commitment to the UAE National Innovation Strategy and STI Policy in making the UAE one of the most innovative nations in the world.”
Al Habsi added: “We have worked with our partners to make the fair a destination for all youth, stimulating their curiosity and interest in all things science.
A key highlight at this year’s fair is the criteria set for project success to move from idea to market and it will place major emphasis on the concept of adoption and incubation of student innovations and prototypes.
The fair is a multi-faceted event and has engaged over 12,000 youth since its inception. It has reached a record number of 1,880 projects’ submissions for its 2018 edition with an increase of 36 per cent compared to 2017 submissions. This years’ competition is expected to attract over 17,000 visitors from across the country. — Wam
