dubai — The UAE national cadres will get specialised training courses at the Oxford University to build up their artificial intelligence (AI) capacities under a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed by Omar bin Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence.

The memorandum was signed with Roger L Michel, founder and executive director of the Oxford Centre for Future Design at the Oxford University’s premises in UK.

The objective is to groom national cadres, including Emirati employees, government leaders and students pursuing higher studies and honing their AI skills through an array of specialised training courses.

The memorandum represents a stepping stone for developing the UAE Artificial Intelligence Strategy, launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai,” said the minister in his comment on the signing.

For his part, Michel said the support lent by Sheikh Mohammed and the government of the UAE has enabled the centre to expand the Innovation programme which is aimed at providing a smarter and more efficient way of life for all concerned.

The three-year memorandum stipulates the implementation of three training programmes in cooperation with the UAE Council for Artificial Intelligence and the Oxford University through a series of specialised AI-oriented workshops. — Wam
