100 volunteers improve learning conditions for 1,000 students
dubai — Over 100 UAE-based volunteers have dedicated their time and efforts to improve the learning conditions for 1,000 students of a charity school in Sharjah. The gesture came as the Dubai Cares launched the second edition of Volunteer Emirates 2018, organised in support of The National Charity School in Al Qadsia, Sharjah.
The volunteers also delivered a variety of essential educational equipment. They provided furniture for the science laboratory, whiteboards for classrooms, benches for the recreational areas, as well as desks, chairs and cupboards for the teachers’ lounges.
The volunteers also drew educational murals across the corridors and landscaped the school’s outdoor spaces to create a more pleasant and engaging surroundings.
Abdulla Ahmed Al Shehhi, Chief Operating Officer at the Dubai Cares, said: “Through this initiative, which is taking place during ‘Year of Zayed 2018’, we hope to spread the late Sheikh Zayed’s inspirational and noble values and further reinvigorate the UAE community’s commitment to community service and volunteering.

Dala from Jordan, who is a regular volunteer with the Dubai Cares, said when a large group of people come together, they will certainly make a big difference.
Mauline, a UAE resident from the Philippines, said: “This is my third time volunteering with the Dubai Cares. I really enjoyed my time alongside other volunteers devoting our time and energy to support Volunteer Emirates in Sharjah.”
