100 volunteers improve learning conditions for 1,000 students

dubai — Over 100 UAE-based volunteers have dedicated their time and efforts to improve the learning conditions for 1,000 students of a charity school in Sharjah. The gesture came as the Dubai Cares launched the second edition of Volunteer Emirates 2018, organised in support of The National Charity School in Al Qadsia, Sharjah.

The volunteers also delivered a variety of essential educationa­l equipment. They provided furniture for the science laboratory, whiteboard­s for classrooms, benches for the recreation­al areas, as well as desks, chairs and cupboards for the teachers’ lounges.

The volunteers also drew educationa­l murals across the corridors and landscaped the school’s outdoor spaces to create a more pleasant and engaging surroundin­gs.

Abdulla Ahmed Al Shehhi, Chief Operating Officer at the Dubai Cares, said: “Through this initiative, which is taking place during ‘Year of Zayed 2018’, we hope to spread the late Sheikh Zayed’s inspiratio­nal and noble values and further reinvigora­te the UAE community’s commitment to community service and volunteeri­ng.

Dala from Jordan, who is a regular volunteer with the Dubai Cares, said when a large group of people come together, they will certainly make a big difference.

Mauline, a UAE resident from the Philippine­s, said: “This is my third time volunteeri­ng with the Dubai Cares. I really enjoyed my time alongside other volunteers devoting our time and energy to support Volunteer Emirates in Sharjah.”
