dubai — A sales executive at a company in a contractual relation with a telecom provider has been charged in court after she allegedly embezzled 19 pre-paid SIM cards worth Dh285.

Her motive, as per her confession during an internal probe, was to reach the sales target set and get a bonus. Public prosecution records show the 23-year-old Filipina employee was based at the Duty Free, Terminal 3, Dubai International Airport, when she allegedly breached trust and embezzled the cards.

The woman’s alleged wrongdoings date back to between September 22 and October 12, 2017.

She has been charged at the Court of First Instance with embezzlement of property belonging to a public entity, forgery and use of forged e-documents, and unlawful use of others’ authentic documents.

She was caught at the staff exit gate with some of the stolen SIM cards in October last year.

A court ruling will be pronounced on April 22.
