sharjah — A man, who stood trial at a Sharjah court over kidnap of a teenager from a street, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

According to court records, the boy was walking on a Sharjah street at 1am in March when two Asian men pushed him into their car. However, the boy managed to escape from the kidnappers later.

One of the two accused pushed him into his car and drove away to an unknown destination, the boy’s complaint said.

One of the kidnappers told the Sharjah Criminal Court, presided by Judge Mahmoud Abaker, that the vehicle which was used to kidnap the victim belonged to him, but he was away in Abu Dhabi on the day of the incident. He also claimed that the car was used by some of his colleagues. However, the teenager testified that the accused was one of the two kidnappers.

“I was walking on the street when an Asian man approached me. He pushed me into a car while the other accused was sitting in the back seat of the car. I was surprised by their attack and tried to resist them. But the duo tried to drive the car to an unknown location.”

After the initial shock, the victim started screaming and a girl, who was in a nearby location heard him. Soon, a number of passersby gathered and then the accused drove away after leaving the boy.

The victim told the court that he wrote down the number of the vehicle while they are fleeing and filed a complaint.

Three days later, the Sharjah Police informed him that the suspects were arrested. He identified the two accused while they were among a group of detainees.
