Winners of short story contest honoured

abu dhabi — The Hamdan Bin Mohammed Heritage Centre (HHC) has announced the winners of the second short story contest on UAE Heritage on Thursday at the ongoing Abu Dhabi Internatio­nal Book Fair (ADIBF).

In the 12-15 age category, Faten Abdul Razzaq grabbed first place for her story titled Father of All Nations while Ibrahim Khaled Al Mahmoud came second and Mohammed Al Hindi took third place.

In the 16-17 age group, Dina Mohammed, who penned A Tale of My Grandfathe­r, came first, followed by Tala Taha in second place and Zahra Al Marhoon in third prize.

The awarding ceremony was attended by Abdullah Hamdan bin Dalmook, CEO of the HHC; Mohammed Abdullah bin Dalmook, HHC director of institutio­nal support; Fatima Seif Al Falasi, head of the library department; and a number of officials.

Abdullah Hamdan bin Dalmook praised the creativity and literary skills of the students in writing short stories with impact on culture and society. He also underlined that the competitio­n reflects the objectives of the centre and the vision of Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council, in nurturing the talents of the current generation and urging them to read and creatively write about the UAE’s rich cultural heritage.
