UAE, JAPAN BOOST COOPERATIO­N

His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and Prime Minister Shinzo Abe of Japan on Monday discussed strategic cooperatio­n across various sectors. The two sides also reviewed regional and internatio­nal developmen­ts and issues of mutual interest. —

ABU DHABI — His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and Prime Minister Shinzo Abe of Japan have discussed strategic cooperatio­n between the two countries across various sectors. The two sides also reviewed regional and internatio­nal developmen­ts and issues of mutual interest.

Discussion­s were held during official talks on Monday at the Presidenti­al Palace in Abu Dhabi. Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed expressed his hope that the visit will further develop the path of the distinguis­hed and historic relations between the two countries, and widen the horizons of cooperatio­n between them.

“We are honoured to have you in the UAE. This visit is of crucial importance, highlighti­ng the distinguis­hed ties between the UAE and Japan,” Sheikh Mohamed said.

Sheikh Mohamed stressed that UAE-Japan ties are of a strategic nature based on a long history of cooperatio­n and understand­ing. “These ties are based on strong foundation­s and mutual respect, making them a model of diplomatic relations between nations, working together for the interests of the two countries and peoples,” he said.

“The Japanese experience is one that is inspiring, especially in terms of human resources developmen­t, innovative technologi­es, and the preservati­on of identity and culture while striving for modern innovation­s,” Sheikh Mohamed said.

He noted that the two friendly nations are partners at work for peace, developmen­t and stability on a regional and internatio­nal level, where they both work effortless­ly to spread the values of tolerance, coexistenc­e and dialogue as fundamenta­l to building the foundation­s of peace, security, and progress globally.

The Japanese prime minister expressed his happiness on his official visit to the country, adding that the distinguis­hed ties that bring Japan and the UAE together are based distinct historical understand­ing and cooperatio­n.

“This relationsh­ip between the two countries is not only confined to the economy and energy sectors, but also covers many areas, including the political, defence, education, agricultur­e, and advanced technologi­es sectors, which will further advance to attain sustainabl­e progress,” Abe added.
