5 cars seized for transporting banned materials
SHARJAH — A car loaded with illegal substances, including niswar, on its way for distribution was seized by the Sharjah Municipality.
Speaking to Khaleej Times, Mohammed Al Kaabi, director of the inspection department, said that inspections have been intensified to detect illegal activities of cars that transport food to outlets. “During the inspection, we managed to seize five cars loaded with banned materials. The team, in coordination with the Sharjah Police, confiscated the materials and the cars and the municipality destroyed the materials.”
The municipality was tipped off about the illegal practices carried out by a number of people who stay in the country illegally. In this case, the Sharjah Police arrested a number of Asians who were involved in distributing banned materials to shops and referred them to concerned authorities for legal actions.

Once the information is received about illegal activities, the municipality coordinates with the police to raid the facility and arrest the violators after confirming the information. The municipality will continue inspections targeting shops and groceries in the residential areas to ensure they are not violating the law by selling banned items which affect public health.”
Al Kaabi said that inspection campaigns are part of the municipality strategy to combating any negative phenomena. “The municipality also will continue its awareness programme to educate the public about the importance of maintaining cleanliness.
