Deadline extended to join diplomatic corps

- Staff Reporter

abu dhabi — The application deadline for nationals to join the UAE diplomatic corps is extended to May 15.

Emirati graduates and employees of government and semi-government entities interested in diplomatic service, and meet the entry requirements, may submit applications through the Emirates Diplomatic Academy (EDA) website www.eda.ac.ae.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MoFAIC)’s decision to extend the deadline will accommodate the unexpected lastminute interest.

The initial announcement in March 2018 saw an overwhelming uptake, with EDA receiving over 1,600 applications.

Applicants are not required to hold academic degrees in political science, history or economics. However, interested candidates must enroll in EDA’s post-graduate diploma programme in UAE Diplomacy and International Relations.

The nine-month programme combines academic courses reflecting the dynamics of the 21stcentury political landscape with practical experience. Lectures, meetings and interactive sessions with the world’s leading diplomats and decision-makers enable students to gain an in-depth under-standing of all aspects of international relations.

In addition to preparing the nationals to represent their country on the global stage, the academy provides them with the guidance and insights to address relevant regional and global issues.
