Gladiators and Titans register victories

dubai — Gladiators finally tasted victory after two defeats when they surprised unbeaten Spartans by 45 runs in the Dubai Cricket Council’s Evolve U-16 Youth League played at the Dubai Internatio­nal Stadium on Friday night.

In another match Titans recorded their second successive win from three matches, with a thumping 25 run win over Trojans.

Fresh from two comprehens­ive victories over Titans and Trojans, Spartans looked confident and after winning the toss sent Gladiators in to bat.

Kushal Chiluka top scored with 46 from 41 balls after slamming two sixes and three fours. Yuvraj Jaisingh struck three fours in his 28 and Vritya Aravind scored a run-a-ball 25 with two boundaries to help Gladiators post 144 for 9 in 25 overs. They were also helped by 15 Extras from Spartans which proved costly in the end for Spartans.

Rishik Janaswamy and Nilansh Keswani bagged two wickets each. Rishik (31) returned to excel with the bat but only Nasir Khan (27) gave him company after Yuvraj had done the damage with three wickets to be named the player of the match.

Spartans who had scored 167 and 179 in their previous two matches, could muster only 99 for 9 from their 25 overs.

Titans tightened the screws on Trojans with a superb win.
