islamabad — Members of the Central Executive Committee (CEC) of the Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) have pledged to continue constitutional, legal and democratic struggle to foil what they said every conspiracy against their leader Nawaz Sharif.

The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Nawaz Sharif here on Friday.

According to a Press release issued by the party, the members of the CEC strongly condemned the statement issued by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) chairman which was based on an extremely irresponsible and completely false media report. The NAB chairman even ignored the reality that the report which has been made the basis of his statement was even denied by the World Bank and the State Bank of Pakistan. According to that report there was no mention of money laundering nor any person was involved in it.

The participants of the meeting declared with consensus that those responsible for spreading lies should be exposed and all steps should be taken to punish them through the country’s legal system.

The members of the CEC supported demand of the party’s supreme leader that the NAB chairman should either give proof of the allegations levelled by him or resign his post and go home.

The CEC also strongly condemned firing on Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal and prayed for his health. The CEC members also considered the constitution of a central election cell, manifesto committee, parliamentary board, media committee and legal aid committee.

The CEC also decided that applications will be received for the candidature of national and provincial assemblies from May 15. A fee of Rs50,000 for National Assembly and Rs30,000 for provincial assemblies was fixed and the applications.
