Heroin overdose kills 18-year-old woman
dubai — An 18-year-old GCC woman, who went missing from her friend’s house, was found dead due to drug overdose. Her body was recovered from the electricity room of a residential building, where her boyfriend had hid it. Police have arrested the man — who is also a GCC national.
On March 22, the woman’s mother informed the Rashidiya Police that her daughter, HA, left home at 7pm and did not return. She said her daughter told her that she would be visiting her girlfriend in Al Warqa. However, since it was quite late and she did not come back, the mother called her on her mobile phone, but received no reply. The worried mother rushed to the house of her daughter’s friend. There she came to know that HA had gone to the supermarket to buy something. But as she didn’t return, the friend’s family thought she might have gone back home. The police formed a team and launched a probe to trace the woman.
During the investigation, the CID officials learnt that the girl was last seen with a man. The police located his whereabouts and arrested the man at Hor Al Anz.
During the police and prosecution interrogation, he admitted that he had relations with the victim and they had been going steady for the last one year. He revealed that the woman had lately got hooked to drugs. “We used to do drugs together,” he added.
The man said on the day of the incident, she came and met him in Al Warqa area. They sat in his car where they injected heroin. He said after taking the drugs, he found that the woman’s condition was deteriorating and she lost her consciousness. He tried to revive her but in vain, the suspect added.
He said he got panicky and decided to get rid of her body. He waited until late night and then drove with the body to another emirate and left it in the electricity room of a residential building, the man said. He confessed that he didn’t inform the police or the woman’s family for fear of being questioned about drugs.
Later, the suspect guided police officials to the building where he hid the body. While searching his car, the police also found heroin and needles used to injecting it.
