-

sharjah — Alubond Tigers eased past Phoenix Medicines by five wickets to retain the 44th Bukhatir Premier League 2018 at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.

After restricting Phoenix Medicines to 246, Alubond Tigers openers got on to the task from the word go. Faizan Asif in the company of Waseem Rana piled on 110 before the latter departed. Rana scored 32 from 63 deliveries including three boundaries.

The fall of the wicket didn’t quite matter to Faizan as he kept scoring at a quicker rate. Abdul Sher (20, 30b, 2x4) added a crucial 43 runs for the second wicket before returning to the hut.

Faizan went on to achieve his century as he scored a 104-ball 118 supported by six boundaries and 10 sixes but his wicket followed by two more did put Alubond Tigers in a bit of concern for a brief while before Amjad Gul’s gritty knock took the team past the line.

Gul’s 41 from 26 deliveries consisted of a boundary and four sixes while Fayyaz Ahmed hit 14 not out as Alubond Tigers scored 247 for five in 42.2 overs.
