Abbasi calls for Muslim unity at OIC meeting
SLAMABAD — Expressing Pakistan’s full solidarity with the Palestinian people in the face of unbridled tyranny, Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi called upon the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) member countries to unify their ranks and evolve an effective response strategy.
“Pakistan joins the OIC countries in conveying our strong condemnation of the massacre and maiming of innocent Palestinians by Israeli forces earlier this week,” the prime minister said while addressing the 7th Extraordinary Summit of the OIC on the question of Palestine hosted by Turkey in Istanbul.
Abbasi lauded President Recep Tayyip Erdogan for convening this timely and important summit,

which he said was important both for its key messages and a response strategy in the face of injustice, illegality and impunity against our Palestinian brothers and sisters.
Today we in Pakistan commemorated a day of solidarity with the Palestinian people and special prayers were held in our Mosques, he said.
The prime minister said this year also marked the 70th anniversary of deliberate Israeli defiance of international law and norms.
“It is regrettable that the US did not heed to universal calls for rescinding its decisions about recognising Jerusalem as the so-called capital of Israel, and relocation of its Embassy to the Holy City,” he said.
“Pakistan stands in full solidarity with the Palestinian people in the face of unbridled tyranny.” The prime minister said that It is therefore in the fitness of things that our conference resolutely condemns and rejects unilateral decisions and recurrent violations of international legality.—
