Easy for Al Embrator, Sharjah Police on way to SRFC semis

-

sharjah — Two of the strongest teams of the Sharjah Ramadan Football Championship (SRFC) have secured their places in the last four, following emphatic wins against their opponents in the quarterfinals at the Sharjah Sports Club.

In the first quarterfinal, Ahmed Jashak opened the scoring for reigning champions Al Embrator against Leader Sport. They held onto that 5th minute goal until the half time.

The half-time team talk had a serious impact on the favourites as Javier Salas, Marko Berg and Wael Khamis added another three goals to Embrator’s tally within the space of three minutes. Ali Al Naqbi pulled one back for Leader in the dying minutes, but an in-form Jashak scored another two before the final whistle, to bring the curtain down on a solid 6-1 victory for Al Embrator.

The second quarterfinal of the evening was between Sharjah Police, widely regarded as Al Embrator’s biggest obstacle, and Quattro.

Sharjah Police started as they meant to go on, with intense pressure and great possession setting up plenty of chances, and after four minutes Brazilian striker Rodrigo Xavier reaped the rewards with an opening score in the fourth minute. It didn’t all go according to plan though as Quattro refused to go quietly and even came back with an equaliser through an excellent long-range free kick by Abdul Samad Mohammed to go into the break at 1-1.

In the second half, Abdul Rahman Talal opened the scoring for the Police in the first minute and Mohammed Obeid broke the defence down once again soon after to put Sharjah Police 3-1 up.

Suhail Ahmed pulled one back for Quattro, but it was too little too late as Xavier added another two to secure his hat trick and took Sharjah Police through to the semis with a hard-fought but ultimately convincing 5-2 win.
