dubai — A Pakistani man was jailed for three months on Monday after a Dubai court found him guilty of sexually harassing a female paramedic in her room.

The public prosecution records show that on December 16 last year, the 30-year-old man, on a visit visa, was alone with the complainant, a Filipina, at her place in Al Barsha when he groped her twice.

He denied a sexual assault charge, but the Court of First Instance convicted him of the charge and ordered his deportation after completing his jail term.

The victim, a paramedic at a medical centre, said: “Around 6.30pm, I was at my room in a flat in Tecom, a shared accommodation. The defendant arrived and introduced himself as the person in charge of rent. He had two men and a woman in his company and was showing them the rooms.

“Later, he came back to my room saying he liked me and wanted to touch me,” she recounted. The victim said she pushed him out after he groped her twice.

“I closed the door and locked it with a key. He later sent another colleague to my place. The latter called the police.” She gave a statement at the police station afterwards that she had no idea how the defendant got inside her room and that he must have had spare keys of all the flats.

The supervisor can appeal the court ruling within 15 days.

Later, he came back to my room saying he liked me and wanted to touch me.”
