dubai — Old School Boys gave Dubai Mammoths a lesson in cricket after trouncing them by 79 runs in Group A of the DCC’s Ramadan League which is sponsored by JK White Cement (Fujairah), Arabian Automobile Association (AAA) and Petrotek at the Sevens ground in Dubai on Sunday.

Put into bat Old School Boys were off to a disastrous start as both their openers returned to the pavilion with the scorecard reading 9 for 2. Thereafter Adnan Arif and Mohammed Ibthisam showed a lot of character by realising a 107-run partnership to take their side out of a precarious situation.

Once these two batsmen were settled the runs began to flow with ease. Adnan’s 60 came from 40 balls and consisted of eight hits to the fence while Ibthisam’s 45-ball stay at the crease for his 62 had three sixes and four boundaries.

Harsha Chaturvedi and Deepak Kundwani played cameos towards the end to take their team to 206 for 7 in 25 overs.

Harsh was unbeaten on 32 from 21 balls with four fours and Deepak struck a six and a four for his 20 from 13 balls.

Kapil Gandhi and Shiva Pagarani took three and two wickets but also proved expensive with each conceding 31 and 40 runs respectively.

Mammoths chase too was meek with only Prashant Braggs (28) and CTK Mashood (36) making noteworthy contributions after man of the match Nashwan Nasir (4-23) and Zeeshan Akmal (3-30) had done the damage.
