Construction firms booked for flouting municipal rules
abu dhabi — Sixty-seven offences have been registered against contracting firms in the Capital for failing to comply with municipal rules.
The Abu Dhabi City Municipality said on Sunday that 53 warnings were also issued to other construction firms during a clamp down on violators of safety and security regulations.
The violations identified at the construction sites included unsafe work-at-height practices and noncompliance with personal protective equipment, neglecting temporary fencing on-site, storing building materials illegally, dumping waste illegally, and failing to service firefighting equipment.
The municipality said the violators were found during recent three-day in-spection campaign on Abu Dhabi Island, Al Reem Island, Al Raha Beach, Yas Island, Al Saadiyat Island, Khalifa City, Shakhbout City and Mohammed bin Zayed City. The campaign targeted construction sites where works are underway, to ensure their compliance with EHS requirements. “The offences were issued to violating firms and companies in the building and construction sector for failing to comply with conditions and standards to be observed at construction sites,” said a municipal official.
