dubai — The Dubai Charity Association, to mark the Zayed Humanitarian Day, is to build its first mosque ever at the Luz-esta area in the province of Malisheva, Kosovo in the name of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

The mosque, which is planned to accommodate 450 to 500 worshippers at a time, is also in view of Year of Zayed and the holy month of Ramadan, according to a senior official.

Ahmad Mohammed Mismaar, secretary general of the Dubai Charity Association, said the move is aimed to spotlight the role of the UAE founding father in terms of voluntary and humanitarian work.

“This also reflects the solidarity among all members of the society and helps spread and promote the culture of humanitarian initiatives everywhere as advised by Islam and urged by the prudent leadership.”

The Sheikh Zayed Mosque in Kosovo is to be built in collaboration with the official bodies concerned there in Kosovo, he added.

“The mosque, built on a total area of 180 square meters against over Dh750,000, can accommodate 450 to 500 worshippers at a time.”

Mismaar said the construction work is slated to kick off in August this year. “The designs and blueprints of the mosque, to serve an area of some 3,000 residents,
