dubai — Following three years of renovation works caused by a raging fire on New Year’s Eve in 2015, the Address Downtown Dubai hotel has reopened, according to a statement issued on Monday by the Emaar Hospitality Group.

Guests have already begun residing in the hotel, and bookings are currently being accepted, according to sources at the hotel. However, the official date of opening was not revealed.

On December 31, 2015, a massive fire engulfed the building and destroyed much of the outer façade and parts of the resort’s interior, just hours before the new year countdown. A few weeks after the incident, the Dubai Police ruled out foul play in the blaze, which had reportedly injured 15 people. According to the Dubai Police, a spark from cables connected to the light, which sat on a ledge between the 14th and 15th floors of the 63-storey tower, triggered the fire.

The renovated hotel has been fitted with new hospitality outlets, including a restaurant, cigar lounge and spa. Speaking about the reopening, Caroline-Jane Houston, general manager of the Address Downtown, said: “The hotel marked its official opening today though we had operated for some days earlier as part of soft-opening.

“Bookings had started in May and we are now receiving our first guests. The feedback from our hotels has been outstanding, underlining the popularity of the hotel among guests.”

The 302-metre-tall Address Downtown has 220 rooms and suites and is re-introducing ‘The Restaurant’ and the ‘Lounge’ eateries. The hotel will feature two new venues — Turkish restaurant The Galliard and American steakhouse STK.
