Noor Al Yemen in Ramadan Cup final

sharjah — Noor Al Yemen will take on Phoenix Medicines in the finals of the 30th Sharjah Ramadan Cup 2018 at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.

In the semifinals, Noor Al Yemen defeated New Medical Centre by six wickets, while Phoenix Medicines beat Bukhatir XI by five wickets.

NMC batting first made a strong start with Fayyaz Ahmed scored a superb 58 off 54 deliveries including six boundaries and two sixes but a fine bowling performanc­e from Zahir Siddiqui who claimed five wickets meant they collapsed to 136 for seven in 20 overs. Only Kamran Atta chipped in with 28 lower in the order.

In reply, Noor Al Yemen comfortabl­y overhauled the target in the 16th over with fine performanc­es from Qamar Abbas Awan (52, 33b, 2x4, 5x6), Shahan Akram (34 not out, 42b, 3x4, 1x6) and Sandeep Singh Sandy (27 not out, 9b, 4x4).

In the others semis, put in to bat first, Bukhatir XI were led by a late knock from Vinu Vijayan who smashed a 27-ball 41 while Rizwan CP and Sayed Badi chipped in with 28 and 27 respective­ly as they piled on 169 for seven in 20 overs.

Chasing a strong target, Phoenix Medicines got off to a superb start with opener Rohan Mustafa firing a 18-ball 50 peppered with three fours and five sixes. Hafiz Kaleem (23), Waseem (21) and Ikram Jura (30) all contribute­d to ensure Phoenix Medicines achieved the target with five balls to spare.
