President okays pacts with various countries

abu dhabi — The President, His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, has issued Federal Decrees approving a group of agreements between the UAE and a number of government­s of friendly countries and internatio­nal organisati­ons.

The decrees were published in the last publicatio­n of the Federal Official Gazette.

The decrees included the one regarding endorsing of agreements between the UAE and the UN’s Food and Agricultur­e Organisati­on (FAO) on the amendment of the agreement signed on the FAO’s sub-regional office for the GCC states and Yemen.

The decrees included those ratifying agreements signed with Croatia and Moldova to avoid double taxation and prevent fiscal evasion with regard to income taxes.

Another decree approved the agreement between the UAE and Moldova to encourage mutual protection of investment­s. Agreements on mutual visa waivers for ordinary passport holders signed by the UAE with Switzerlan­d and Brazil were also ratified by the President.

Sheikh Khalifa also issued decrees approving UAE’s agreements with the Ukrainian Cabinet Council on cultural cooperatio­n and Lithuania on economic and technical cooperatio­n.

Decree to approve UAE’s agreements with Bangladesh on air services between their territorie­s and beyond was also issued by Sheikh Khalifa on Thursday. Agreements on air services with Sao Tome and Principe, Guinea-Bissau, Congo and Malawi were also ratified by the President.
